Mary "Mimi" Virginia Wissing, born May 12, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, passed away on December 11, 2017 at home in Houston, TX. A 1948 graduate of Presentation Academy in Louisville, KY and 1952 Registered Nurse Alum of Nazareth School of Nursing. Mary spent most of her years raising her children at home, volunteering at St. Matthews Church and for countless other causes. At the age of 60, she began her nursing career to help support her family and retired at age 70 to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents John D. Mattimore, Anne P. Mattimore; brothers John and Joe Mattimore; loving husband of 45 years, Richard D. Wissing; sons Joseph and Thomas Wissing; grandchildren Benjamin and David Tallerine. Survived by sister, Anne Ropke; daughter-in-law Veronica Wissing; children Elizabeth Owens husband Jimmy, Mary Tallerine husband Frank, Matt Wissing wife Sandra, Veronica Tallerine husband Anthony, Paul Wissing wife Barrie and Anne Holik husband Eddie; 37 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces and countless friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., services at 2:00 p.m., and a reception will follow. Services and ceremony will be at American Heritage Funeral Home located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77038.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Houston, TX.

Mimi was a wonderful person and a very spiritual person. She was very active at St. Matthew's and a great neighbor when she lived in Inwood Forest. Mimi will be missed.
