In 2012 Elliott married Danielle Marie Veilleux. Shortly thereafter, Elliott and Danielle settled in Tyler where he practiced at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital. They are the parents of a beautiful daughter Corinne Lucile Whitley. Elliott was a supportive spouse to Danielle's veterinarian practice and a loving father to his young daughter.
Elliott enjoyed diverse hobbies including photography, gardening and travel. As a medi-cal student he won a school-wide photography contest with a panorama of the Houston skyline. As a recent college graduate, Elliott and his sister Florence toured central Europe. Throughout his life he excelled at snow skiing in Keystone, Colorado and hiking in Spanish Peaks, Colorado.
Elliott is predeceased by Harold C. Whitley, paternal grandfather, Clarence and Lucile Castle, maternal grandparents, and Bianca, his beloved dog.
Elliott is survived by Danielle and Corinne Whitley, his wife and daughter; Douglas and Sherry Whitley, parents; Julia Whitley, sister, and Peter Siegesmund, her husband and Alexandra, their daughter; Florence Whitley Kerkaert, sister, and Thomas Kerkaert, her husband, and Thompson, Felicity, Marie, and Dillon, their children. I had the pleasure of being one of Elliott's attendings at S&W Emergency Medicine Residency. From day 1, he stood out. Not only gregarious and intuitive, but polite and compassionate. He was a gifted doctor. I have no words to express how very sad I feel for him, his family and his friends.

I only met Dr. Whitley on Oct 4, 2017 when he treated one of my grandchildren in the ER. He was a compassionate and thorough care giver. His compassion even extended to me. His words and actions let me see that he was treating my granddaughter and her family as he would want his children and family to be treated. He mentioned his family. I am so sorry that his young life has ended so tragically. My prayers go up to the Lord on behalf of his family.

Elliott Whitley...
I had the pleasure of being his faculty advisor at the Scott and White Emergency Medicine residency but I first had the pleasure of his acquaintance and his service as my medical record "scribe" at Harris Methodist Fort Worth ED.
Elliott texted his faculty physicians thanking us for his training after a difficult case at Trinity Mother Frances Tyler ED on March 16, 2016 "I had the skills to lead thanks to ya'll...Keep up the training, the community benefits immensely...I take no credit- it's thanks to all ya'll who got me there. Regards from Tyler. -Elliott". Yep, he was also an encourager in his gratitude for sure.
It was a pleasure to have him as a resident. He was able to straighten up and fly right from day one of internship. He eventually became an awesome chief resident and lead his peers by example.
Great memories of trail running with him, especially since he was kind enough to slow down for me...
Last talked to him first week in Oct as he relayed such enthusiasm for medical directorship, family and fatherhood especially.
Humans in our earthly realm are either givers or takers. Elliott was a giver not a taker, therefore with that and his bounding spirit I will never be able to achieve closure on his tragic loss as I suspect no one else will either.
JoElla and I stand with Elliott's family and all of you who knew and loved him in our condolences and with prayer.

My sincere condolences. I'll always cherish our time together at UM and our many long journeys from Arlington to Miami where we would discuss anything and everything under the sun. Elliot always had a great outlook on life and I hope his memory will remain in all the lives he's touched.

Dear Mr., Mrs. Whitley and Florence,
Elliott's passion for life and the will to live it to the fullest helped guide my life for the positive.
I know that I would not have accomplished as much in life without the life lessons that your family and son shared with me.
To this day he is the brother that I would and could call anytime I needed a laugh and a pickup. I grateful to have some many moments with him.
He will forever remain one of the greatest men that I have ever known.

Dear Douglas and Sherry Whitley:
It deeply saddens us to learn of Elliott's sudden passing away. We have known him for several years and even took a trip together to Nepal for mountain-climbing a few years ago. Ashvin and Elliott were medical school room-mates and we visited often with them. Those fond memories will always stay with us, especially Elliott playing the guitar when we were half-way up the mountain climb in Nepal. His spontaneous kindness towards everyone will always stay with us.
