Carolyn Harris Lanners, 81, died peacefully in Mesa, Arizona on December 19, 2017. She was born in Twin Falls, Idaho to Bernice Hendrickson and Byron E. Harris and moved to Arizona when she was 28. Carolyn Harris had three siblings: a sister (Marion Biorn) who preceded Carolyn's death, a brother (Jerry Harris), and a step-brother (Bart Howells). Carolyn and her first husband Rolland L. Ooley married in 1952. They had three children: Deborah A. Ooley Schinzel, Clayton S. Ooley, and Marva L. Ooley Pastorino (who preceded Carolyn's death). Carolyn and her children moved to Tempe in 1966 and worked at Arizona State University and retired as manager of the school's remote computer sites in October 1991.
Carolyn met and married her beloved husband, S. Nicholas Lanners, in Scottsdale, Arizona on July 12, 1975. She described Nick as her lover, partner, soul-mate, and best friend. Together they purchased and managed a Phoenix neighborhood bar (The Buggy Inn), built their 'dream' home in Star Valley, became RV Club members, traveled world-wide, and spent time with friends and family. Carolyn was a member of Sweet Adelines International, Tonto Community Concert, ASU Retirees Association, Mogollon Health Alliance Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary (Unit 69), Loyal Order of Moose Auxiliary Chapter 2012, and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Payson Regional Hospital. She loved her family and felt fortunate to be a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and most importantly a friend to all. She believed having someplace to go is Home, having someone to love is Family and having both is a Blessing.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband (Nick), brother (Jerry), step-brother (Bart), children (Deborah Schinzel and Clayton Ooley), step-son (Greg Lanners); grandchildren (Jacob Lanners, Gene Pastorino, Charles and Joseph Ramirez, Danny, Todd, and Jenna Ooley); step-grandchildren (Indra Lanners; Mikayla Jayne-Fields, Luke, Gunar, Nik, and Marie Schinzel); 8 great-grandchildren, and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

To the Lanners Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
