Vincent J. "Jim" Gasparro, age 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 23, 2017 at his home in Barrington surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Jane (Gianfrancesco) Gasparro.
Born and raised in Warren a son of the late Carmine and Antonia (Scalera) Gasparro he lived in Providence and was a longtime resident of Barrington.
A proud United States Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict on the U.S.S Iowa, he went to Johnson & Wales University for Business Administration. The owner and operator of Allied Framing Products in Warren he worked for over 40 years until his retirement in 2008.
A member, past president and speaker chairman of the Barrington Rotary, he was also a member of the Barrington Y.M.C.A. A skilled athlete, he played semi-professional football with the RI Colts in the mid-1950s and ran several road races winning many awards. He also enjoyed traveling and adventures with Jane.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Frank Gasparro, grandchildren, Kara and Frank, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Belinda Paradiso, Louis Gasparro and Frances Wilson.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren. Visiting hours, Thursday 4:00-7:00PM. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
