Marilyn Rosen Belenky passed away on December 23, 2017 at the age of 69. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Marilyn was a resident of Greensboro, North Carolina for the past 27 years and before that lived in Kalamazoo, Michigan for 18 years. Marilyn had successful careers with the HMO division of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and with The Hartford in Connecticut. After moving to Greensboro, she committed her life to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Rosen, and is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Neil Miller Belenky, and by her dedicated sister, Jaqueline Rosen Pilaski, with whom she shared a wonderfully close relationship. Marilyn was most proud of her three sons, Erik (Sally), David, and Stephen (Rachel). She adored and was devoted to her two granddaughters, Margaret and Miller Belenky. She also is survived by her nieces Lisa Pilaski (Maurice Frumpkin) and Dana Breed (Ashley), by her great-niece Clio Frumpkin, and by her aunt Renee Goldhar. Marilyn was also an honored godmother to Abigail Einspahr, daughter of Fred and Susan, and Carly Doobrow, daughter of Kent and Felicia. Marilyn truly was happiest when surrounded by her family. She relished in parenthood and delighted in being "Bubbie" to her grandchildren, making children and grandchildren the center of her world.
She loved hosting Thanksgiving every year and was happiest when her house was full of loved ones. She loved being with friends and playing Ma Jong and was an active member of Beth David Synagogue, which held a very special place in her heart. It is not an exaggeration to say that Marilyn never failed to leave an impression and was adored by many for her strong and generous spirit and sense of humor.
The family would like to extend special thanks to her oncologist Dr. Gustav Magrinat for giving her precious additional years and to Hospice for their comfort at the end of her life.
A gravesite funeral service will be held at the Greensboro Hebrew Cemetery on Tuesday, December 26 at 1pm. The family will receive condolences Tuesday, 5:00 - 5:45pm at Beth David prior to Shiva Minyan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beth David's Saturday Luncheons, and Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. Hanes Lineberry Vanstory Chapel is assisting the Belenky family. Online condolences may be made at www.haneslineberryfuneralhomes.com
