Willard Lynn Chandler of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on December 23, 2017, at the age of 74. Will was born to parents Jesse and Ann Chandler on July 7, 1943, in Houston, Texas. He was the oldest brother of Mark and Beverley. Married Kathleen Mackey in 1965 and had a son, Bradley Chandler in 1970. Will joined the army in 1967 and graduated from Rotary Wing Flight School at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He completed his military career as a Captain at Fort Hood, Texas, in 1987.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and raising chickens. He was friendly and outgoing, had a quick wit and a warm sense of humor. Telling stories -some funny, some reflective, some true, some fiction - was a talent that Will shared with "everyone he met". Each story became longer and more colorful with each telling.
Will was a lifelong Catholic. He had a deep and abiding faith in God and a devotion to Mary. When living in Mount Vernon, Texas, he served as an usher, Eucharistic minister, and catechist at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Will received great comfort and solace in his faith when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's type dementia, and through his struggle with the debilitating disease.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his son, Bradley and daughter-in-law Veronica; his brother, Mark and wife Susan.
Will will be missed dearly.
Services will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas, on Tuesday the 9th of January 2018, at 10:00 am. He will be interred at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas, at noon following the service.
