Marguerite Hancock Fletcher, 96, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Spring Lake Assisted Living Center.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2nd, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Don Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Fletcher, the daughter of Elmo & Ora McClure Hancock, was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Petty.
Her retirement from the Department of Public Safety followed many years of faithful service. Many in Lamar County will remember her as the person who gave them their driver’s license test. She was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church.
Marguerite married Carma Fletcher, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1982. She was also preceded in death by three brothers & sisters-in-law; Joe & Lena Mae Hancock, Lovell & Amy Hancock, and Morgan & Kathryn Hancock and a niece, Judy Hancock Woerner.
Survivors include nieces and nephews; Rebecca Hancock Gough, Linda Hancock Lambeth, Delores Hancock Webster, Bill Hancock and Joe Roland Hancock along with many extended family members and a host of friends.

Prayers from her Spring Lake family. I never knew her during her DPS days but I got to know and love her here at Spring Lake. She definetly made our days memorable. I will miss you dearly.

To the Fletcher... Hancock family.. your aunt sissy was and will always be one of my favorite people...she was a good person....did her job with the DPS by the rules....at the time of her retirement she was the senior drivers license clerk in the state of Texas......was basically hired for the job by the then Senator A M Aikin.....who told The Director of the DPS to hire her.....little history of Marguerite....she was a Christian .....loved God and Carma unconditionally.....I am proud to know I was her friend....and she mine....you all are in my prayers......John Cross

Prayers for all the family! I loved Aunt Sissy so much and will miss her. Now she is in heaven with her love Uncle Carma and the rest of the family. She is in a beautiful place with our lord. She is in no pain or suffering anymore! Rest In Peace Aunt Sissy

I am so sorry to hear Aunt Sissy passed away! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Aunt Sissy and Uncle Carma would always love coming to our house and she would bring me makeup. I will miss her so much. Loved her more than she knew!
