COLUMBIA John “Johnny” Fletcher Riddle Jr., 66, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, surrounded by family after losing his battle with cancer.
Born October 24, 1951 in Columbus, Ga., he was the son of the late John “Fletcher” and Clarice Daniels Riddle. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He also had a successful career of more than 30 years in monofilament sales with Shakespeare and several years in sales with the Quantum Group. His hobbies included fishing and shrimping but his passion was riding his Harley. John was a dedicated husband and loving father. He left us far too soon but we take comfort in knowing that he came to know the Lord and is now at peace with our Heavenly Father.
Surviving are his loving wife and best friend of 41 years, Debbie Riddle; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Shane Smith of Lexington, his daughter, Ashley Riddle Christine and Lee Drafts of Lexington; his mother, Clarice “Rusty” Riddle of Walterboro; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia “Ginger” and Bill Walker of Walterboro; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Sandra Riddle of Walterboro; seven grandchildren, Jason, Kaylee, Isabella, Gabriella, Claire, Peyton and Trinity; and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the people who provided love, support and care to John during his battle with cancer. We couldn’t have done it without each of you.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Loved the visits Johnny and Debbie made to Belle Vista. Enjoyed catching flounder with him and having a glass of wine with Debbie or a beer or two with Johnny. He was a wonderful, sweet, kind man who will be missed. My heart goes out to Debbie and the children and grandchildren. He was gone too soon. God Bless

Spending time with John was a blessing. Always had a smile and easy to have a conversation with while enjoying a meal together. Looked forward to his calls asking "how's the shrimping" and the status of the lake and lot. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with Debbie and the Family. May the memories you shared with John comfort you all during this time of sorrow.

Lost my lifetime Flounder fishing buddy. Was always a contest with Debbie and my self to see who could catch the "dormat". A great family member and sorely missed. Healing will not happen immediately but time will soften the loss. My sister has been a rock for so many years helping the family and now has to do her own.
