Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 28, 2017.

Nola Hess Barton passed away on December 25th, 2017 due to complications of old age.
She was born on January 26, 1917 to James Henry Jr. and Alice Tovey Hess in Fielding, Utah. She was the fourth of eight children. Nola spent her childhood and early teenage years living in Box Elder and Davies Counties. She attended Davis High School before moving to Greenville Utah in 1934.

Nola and Joe were the parents of three children; Garold Clifton Barton; Alice Joyce Barton, who died of Polio at the age of eight months; and Alma West Barton.
In 1937, Joe secured a job with the Union Pacific Railroad and the couple moved to Yermo California and lived there shortly before Joe was transferred to Los Angeles. Nola and Joe lived in the L.A. area for several years until the state bought their house as part of a highway project and the family moved to Buena Park, California in 1957. When their sons both moved to Utah, Joe asked for a transfer to Salt Lake City, and the couple moved to the Sugarhouse area, where they stayed until Joseph's death in December 2000. Nola then moved to Orem, Utah, where she remained until her death.
She attended Cosmetology School at Fullerton Jr. College, California and passed those skills on to her sisters and granddaughters. She enjoyed making homemade chocolates, cooking, housekeeping, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Sorry that I was unable to attend the services. I have a cold that Is still in the contagious stage. Aunt Nola was a sweet and loving aunt. She always had a smile to greet you and unconditional love to share. I am sure her family that has passed to the other side are welcoming her with open arms. We love you, Aunt Nola and will miss you. Your Niece, Sally Hall

Nola Barton is such a grand lady! She was so thoughtful of others. Based on the wonderful children she has, she was a tremendous mother. I am honored to know her and her family.

You are all an example to me as you properly miss your mother and grandmother, yet you happily know that she is with her loved ones in Heaven. You know that she will help you from there and someday greet you with open arms and her loving heart.
