Miguel Manners Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 31, 2017.

Miguel Sanchez Manners was born 26 October 1985 in Detroit Michigan to parents Dianna Giles Manners and Oscar Adolphus Manner Jr. He lived in Detroit until his father signed up for active duty in the United States Army in 1993. Then traveling with his family to multiple military bases. First going to Kitzingen, Germany then Fort Drum, New York, Fort Campbell, Kentucky and Fort Hood, Texas. Those experiences of being surrounded by the military lead him to joining the United States Army in 2004.

Miguel attended Basic Training and Advance Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma graduating as a 13 Fox, Fire Support Specialist. After graduation he was assigned to 4th Infantry Division Fort Hood, Texas. Then he was reassigned to 101st Airborne Division Fort Campbell, Kentucky, his next assignment was 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, then Cobra Team Operations Group NTC Fort Irwin, California and finally 3rd BCT 10th Mountain Division Fort Polk, Louisiana. With such dedication to service Miguel was promoted to Sergeant First Class in November 2017. He received multiple accolades, commendations and awards, receiving two Meritorious Service Medals with one awarded posthumously.

Miguel was also a barbeque and turkey fryer master, a reliable battle buddy, but stubborn as a bull with a hint of silliness and sarcastic comments thrown in on the side. He enjoyed and looked forward to vacations with all four of his kids and traveling. A proud husband, father, son, brother and soldier, who will be greatly missed.
