Barbara Jean Osborn passed away peacefully in Windsor, Colo. on December 31, 2017. She was 81. Born March 26, 1936 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to George and Isabel Pilling, Barbara grew up on a farm outside of town until she married George H. Osborn in 1955. They soon moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where they lived for two years and then to Estherville, Iowa where they started a refrigeration and air conditioning business and had two children. In 1961 they moved to Colorado. Barbara worked at Leroy Drive Elementary as a para-professional, cleaned houses and later worked for Storage Technology. She and George had opportunities to travel to Europe, Australia and New Zealand. After George's death in 1995, Barbara decided to get a part time job at HoneyBaked Ham where she loved meeting and talking with customers. She loved doing crafts, sewing and was active in Red Hat Society, TOPS and a widows group. She was a very social person and enjoyed her friends' company. Barbara had four grandchildren: Gregory Mees of Minneapolis Minn.; McKenzie Osborn of Fort Collins, Colo.; Kayla Mees of Denver, Colo.; and Haley Osborn of Fort Collins, Colo. She treasured these kids and was very active in their lives as they grew up. Barbara is survived by her son Steven G. Osborn (Karen), Sherry R. Mees (Jeffrey), her four grandchildren and her brother Robert Pilling of Oregon.

Barb was my second mom in high school as I spent hours at the Osborn's. Her laugh was infectious as she refereed dinner conversations and games of pitch!

Barb was truly a special lady, I always felt like I was the most important person in the room whenever I spoke to her. She cared deeply about others and their families. She was amazing support to my husband and I as we raised our children. What a fantastic example she set as a wife, mother and grandmother.

Barb was very dear to me and I will miss her. She and Isabel saved my life when I was little -- I was an unhealthy infant and they kept me going. My trips all over the west with Barb are precious memories. She was a loving, caring person, generous and always willing to help. Curious and with a good sense of humor she was a pleasure to visit. I think everyone who knew her was enriched and everyone who knew her will miss her.
