James "Jim" E. Dollins, 69, of Davenport, passed away December 31, 2017 at his home. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Inurnment will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the "Wounded Warrior Project". Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Jim was born December 9, 1948 in Davenport, IA to Vernie and Esther (Messer) Dollins. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1968. Jim proudly enlisted in the U.S. Airforce in October of 1968. Jim married Charlene Smith in 1972. They later divorced. Jim later married Audrey McGrath on April 9, 2005 in Davenport. Jim worked for Kraft Foods for 33 years, retiring in 2005. He went on to work for the Davenport school system as a bus driver, then as a monitor, for the last 2 years. Jim was an all-star Little League Baseball player. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing, and in his later years he enjoyed shooting at the gun range, Jim was known for his infectious smile, beautiful blue eyes, and very warm heart. He was a wonderful family man and loved his children and grandchildren. His family meant the world to him. He was a great friend to many. Survivors include his wife, Audrey; sons: Derrick (Deb) Dollins, Brian (Tina) Dollins; step-children: Alison Slifer, Derrick (Beth Anne) Lazzara; grandchildren: Alexandra, Devin, Drew, Samantha, Fionna, Kiarra, Dylan, Alayna; one brother, Ron (Kyle) Dollins; one sister, Collene (Merv) Thiede; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and he loved his dogs Lily, Murphy and Nana. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dick.
