Our family and the world lost a devoted prayer warrior on December 24th, 2017. Josephine Chavez Castellanos, entered eternal rest with her loving family by her side, early Christmas Eve morning.
Josie would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call from God on Christmas eve morning for an invite to celebrate the birth of Christ our Lord, from which she will not be returning. This invite comes with also a long awaited reunion with family she has not seen in a long time. Her new mission takes her to a place where she will be reunited with her dear father & mother, Julio & Maria Chavez and all her elder siblings, Petra, Placida, Andrea, Rosa, Julio, Francisco, Antonia, Maria, Cornelia and Luz. Their little Josie has come home.
We were blessed to have her in our lives for 92 years. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her passion for prayer, her love for life, family and friends. She worked very hard all her life, up until her retirement, where she then lived the last 32 years with her only child, and loving daughter, Pat Lee and son-in-law, Dave Jordan. Josie had the faith and perseverance in God and Family and made a difference in the lives of many. She will be missed as a beloved Mother, God Mother, Cousin, Friend and dear Aunt of 36 Nephews and Nieces, and 118 second Nephews and Nieces.
A Celebration of Josie's Life will be held in Yuma, Arizona. The final viewing will be held Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 5PM until 9PM with Rosary at 6PM at Johnson's Mortuary at 1415 S. 1st Ave on January 7th. Phone: (928) 782-4384

As we mourn the loss of Aunt Josie, I am grateful for the time we shared with her and the positive influence she had on our lives. What an amazing woman of faith, a prayer warrior who blessed so many people through her faith and kindness. I will forever be grateful for the love she kept alive in our hearts when the Lord took our Dad home. My prayer is that God provide peace and His loving presence to family and friends during this difficult time.
Pat,
Please know we are praying that you will find comfort and strength in God's love. Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you in the days that follow.
With prayers and sympathy,
JJ, Kristel, Matthew and Laura Johnson
