Clyde Allen Buckles, age 80 of rural West Salem, IL passed from this life to the next on January 4, 2018 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 17, 1937 in West Salem to Ellis and Elsie (Marks) Buckles.
He married Loretta Swartzbaugh on November 19, 1955 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in West Salem.
Clyde worked 29 years for the State of Illinois for the Department of Transportation.
He loved farming; it was his passion. He enjoyed tinkering with farm machinery and attending machinery sales. He also loved family vacations and traveling. Clyde enjoyed his family very much.
Clyde was a member of the Marion Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Juanita Meadows and a granddaughter, Ashley Bosecker.
He is survived by his wife Loretta of rural West Salem, his daughter Wanda (Tom) Bosecker , of Albion, two sons, David (Norma) Buckles of Albion and Phil (Doris) Buckles of Knoxville, TN, one sister, Rowena Bunting of Bone Gap, IL, one brother, Darrel Buckles of Grayville, IL , nine grandchildren: Ryan Greifzu, Rachel (Jerod) Braddock, Whitney (Greg) VanWinkle, Darus Bosecker, Andrew (Annie) Buckles, Bryce (Whitney) Buckles, Kendra (Brad) Sturgill, Abby McConnell and Haley McConnell and six great grandchildren, with three more on the way.
Funeral service for Clyde Allen Buckles will be held at 2PM on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem, IL. There will be no visitation.
Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Marion Church Cemetery Fund.
Family and friends are encouraged to wear casual dress in memory of Clyde. Overalls, Carhart jackets and boots are welcome!
