Armand J. Gendreau, age 89, of Pawtucket, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the Elderwood Skilled Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth J. (Chapman) Gendreau and the late Irene (Moreau) Gendreau.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Armand E. and Lucy (Legasse) Gendreau, he was a longtime resident of Pawtucket and lived in Spring Hill, Florida for many years.
He was a machinist for forty-four years having worked at Draper Corporation in Providence, H&H Screw Products in Lincoln and Production Products, Inc. in Riverside before his retirement in 1990.
He was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church where he taught CCD and, while living in Florida, was a communicant of Nativity Lutheran Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Gendreau was a member of the Attleboro Lodge of Elks, Lodge 1014 and was a Cub and Boy Scout leader for many years.
He loved playing cribbage and was always a masterful opponent, especially against his children to whom he taught the game as soon as they were old enough to learn. He was also fond of singing and dancing, entertaining those in the assisted living facility that he called home in his later years. Armand was known as a sharp wit with a keen sense of humor. It would be a rare occasion where he would pass up the opportunity to deliver a clever pun. His children and several grandchildren insist that he passed on the "punster gene" to them.
He is survived by three sons, Paul Gendreau and his wife Deborah, Thomas Gendreau and his wife Paula, Daniel Gendreau and his wife Wendy; one daughter, Michele Brooks and her husband David; three step-sons, Edward Price and his wife Kathy, John Price and his wife Maria, and Mark Bates; two sisters, Doris Therien and Helen Daneau and her husband Gerard, sister-in-law, Norma Gendreau, fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Gendreau and step-father of the late Steven Price.
Contributions in his honor may be made to the Nativity Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 6363 Commercial Way, Weeki Wachee, FL 34613. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02861 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018. The interment will be at a later date at Nativity Lutheran Church, Weeki Wachee, Florida. To send a tribute, please visit: www.wilbur-romano.com

We were so sad to hear of Armand's passing. He was a friend through Nativity Lutheran Church in Weeki Wachee, Florida. Many times we drove him and his late wife, Jean, to the airport for their trips to Biloxi. They also did much when they were in charge of the Fellowship Committee to unite the members of our church. Armand was a dear sweet man, and will surely be missed. Our deepest sympathy to all of his family.
