Ross Lee Benton, of Northlake, TX, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Lewisville, TX. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, friend, and colleague, to all that knew and loved him.
He was born on January 14, 1923 in Energy, IL to Leo Dewey and Faye Benton. Ross and Charleen were married September 17, 1943 in San Antonio TX where he was stationed in the Air Force and they were happily married for 68 ½ years until her death in 2012. They lived numerous places in Illinois and then several places in Texas. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1950. He and his brother Jack owned and operated Filmstrips and Slides in Dallas Texas for several years. He was an avid fisherman and accomplished shooter and loved to work with and carve wood. He was on the Dallas city skeet league where he and his partners won the city championship. He also loved all of his family very much.
Ross is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Joan Benton, of Northlake, TX, daughter, Rossena Ann Benton, of Northlake, TX, grand-children, Christopher and Amber Saito, (Amethyst Mary-Faye, Kirsi Eryn, Jasmine Lee, and Sophia Noelle) of Argyle, TX, Michael and Kristy Dudgeon, (Oliver Michael) of Northlake, TX, Nathan and Michelle Benton, (Declan Jay and Connor Leo) of Roanoke, TX, sister-in-law, Daisy Brunk, of South Jacksonville, IL, and numerous Nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Charleen) Benton, his father and mother Leo and Faye Benton, his brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Pauline Benton, his brother and sister-in-law Jack and Ramona Benton, and his nephew Jay Benton.
Pallbearers will be Randy Benton, Jack (Greg) Benton, Nathan Benton, Christopher Saito, Stanley Pritchard, and Rob Schill. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Dudgeon, Grant Benton, Todd Benton, and Travis Benton.
The visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018. The service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
