Michael had a fierce life force. We all benefitted from that. So thank you for sticking with it. Michael was one of the funniest kindest people I knew. Robin, take comfort in knowing that you were a big part of his sticking around as long as he did. I thank you. I'm happy he is free of his body and his spirit is released.
When he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night
And pay no worship to the garish sun.

Mike was an incredibly gifted teacher as well as a beloved listener and sounding board for countless students at H-B Woodlawn over the years. Knowing him as a student in the 1990s changed my life for the better. My deepest condolences for your family's loss.

So sad to hear that Mike has passed away. He had such a huge impact on my life and my interest in theater - I even ended up going back to H-B after graduating from college to be his substitute when he went on leave. Talk about HUGE shoes to fill! Rest in Peace, Mike.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am another of Mike's drama students from the 90s. While I haven't seen Mike in many years, I feel his imprint on my life every day. He taught me to speak in front of an audience with confidence, and how to hold a space. He always treated his students like adults, and from that we learned to take responsibility for our actions but always to expect dignified treatment. He was a great human being who touched many lives.

News of Mike's passing has filled me with sorrow. He was a fantastic drama teacher. I had the pleasure of having Mike for drama all through middle and high school. He always kept it interesting and fresh, encouraging us to tap into our emotions and creativity. One of my major regrets has been not trying out for any of our school plays, but his encouragement always stayed with me. So much so that a few years ago, I worked up the nerve to audition for community theater. I had hoped to touch base again with him as an adult and thank him. I'm sorry I never got the chance. I'm so sorry for his family's loss. Rest peacefully Mike.
