Phyllis S. "Stasia" Alice passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Fairview Nursing Home in Groton, CT. She was also known to many acquaintances as "Stella". Born in Norwich, CT on May 29, 1930, she was the youngest daughter of the late Lawrence and Aleksandra (Wozniak) Plawik. She worked for many years at SNET taking a break in the 1970's to work in family-owned restaurants, then returning to SNET and retiring in 1995. She then volunteered for the Norwich school system as a foster grandmother, working with special needs students and was affectionately known as "Gramm". Stasia greatly enjoyed spending time with her family especially all her grandchildren, and loved to cook large family meals, making the best coleslaw and golumbkis on earth! She also loved summering at the family beach cottage in Matunuck, RI. Stasia was an avid UCONN basketball fan, especially loving the women's division. She is survived by her children Patricia Croteau and husband Thomas, Phyllis Spicer and husband Scott, Lawrence Alice and wife Helene, Christina Genovesio and husband Richard, and Stephen Alice and Deborah. She also leaves ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who all loved and adored their "Nana". She was predeceased by her daughter Bonnie and her four sisters Jessie Ziezulka, Wanda Luty, Jean Erardy and Jane Peretti. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fairview and Backus Hospital for the kind and compassionate care given to their Mom. Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 13th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT.
