Art was born on July 3, 1930 in Staples, Minnesota, being one of five children. He joined the Marine Corps at age 20 in San Diego. While serving in the Marine Corps, he met his wife to be, Barbara Jo (Bobbie) Johnson. They were married in 1953. Out of the Marine Corps, they moved to Minnesota, staying a year and then moved back to San Diego. He became a barber in 1955. They had three children Julie, M'lizz, and Walter Jensen. His wife Bobbie passed away in 1979. He was single for 17 years before meeting and marrying his current wife Sue in 1996. They loved each other very much. They travelled many places together including, France, India, Antarctica, Russia. He was a local Encinitas barber for 43 years and made a difference in the lives of the many people he met. He never met a stranger that he didn't care about whether they were homeless, a struggling addict, or a millionaire. He loved well and much.
Arthur Leroy (Art) Jensen passed away at ActivCare in Carlsbad, age 87 from complications of Alzheimer's dementia. He is survived by his wife Sue, his daughters Julie Johnson and M'lizz Salley, his son Walter, his son-in-law Curt Blattner. He leaves behind five grandchildren and a legacy of love. He loved to play piano, was an avid walker, and his passion was riding a bike. He could be seen in most early mornings riding his bike along 101. He took many bike trips with friends and Sue to places such as Yugoslavia, Norway, Blue Ridge Mountains, down the coast of California, and New Zealand. He will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives were deeply touched by his.
A celebration of life will be held at the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church in Solana Beach on Sunday, January 28 at 2 pm with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send a memorial donation in Art's name to San Diego Rescue Mission, P.O. box 80427, San Diego 92138.

Art was a special man who gave so much to his family and community. It was a treat to take my son, Andrew for his haircut from the time he was 3. Art will be missed by everyone who knew him.
