Oshanniar "Shanna" Hamilton, age 88 of Cumming, GA, formerly of Jackson, passed away on January 6, 2018 at her residence at Lanier Place in Cumming, GA.
She was born in Hardeman County, TN in 1929, she married in 1953 and enjoyed more than 60 years as a wife and mother. She has lived in Cumming, GA for the past several years with her husband, Kenneth C Hamilton, and her two children, Toni and Clay Hamilton. She is also survived by a sister, Sue Norment of Miami, FL; Boyd Maroney of Fleming Island, FL; Henry (Linda) Maroney of Memphis and Gerald Maroney of Medina. KC and Shanna have three grandchildren: Michelle, Ben and Lacy Hamilton, also in GA.
Her parents, Print and Rubie Maroney, preceded her in death, as did her other four brothers: Troy Maroney, Ellis Maroney, Joe Maroney and Harold Maroney.
After traveling many years with KC's job with the Western Electric Company, he and Shanna settled back in Jackson and enjoyed their family and many friends. They were active members at West Jackson Baptist Church since 1962, having served as teachers in the two-year old department for many of those years.
In addition to her skills as a wife, mother and Sunday School teacher, Shanna worked at the Jackson Clinic as a bookkeeper in the pharmacy and later as the Associational Secretary for the Madison-Chester Association of Southern Baptists. Asked a few years ago what her hobbies were, she replied, "washing dishes, ironing and sewing!"
Arrangements are under the direction of George A Smith & Sons Funeral Home. Her service will be conducted by Rev. Lonnie Sanders at the North Chapel on Wednesday, January 10 at 1 pm followed by burial at Highland Memorial Gardens. KC and her family will receive guests from 12-1 pm at the North Chapel.
