Robert J. Mendez, 82, went peacefully at 9am Monday, Jan 8, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona at Pacifica Senior Living.
Born July 28, 1935, in Galesburg, Illinois, married to Pansy Mendez for 57 years, worked at Maytag until he retired in 1983. Also, Bob owned his own body shop in Galesburg called Bob's Auto Body. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1984 and Bob worked for the Washington School District and Farmers Insurance until 1995.
He is survived by daughter Joy Mendez of Fort Worth, Texas; son Jeffrey (Audrey) Mendez of Phoenix, Arizona; and brother Gene (Becky) Mendez of Galesburg, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife Pansy Mendez.
He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, great work ethics and love for his family and friends. He will be missed.

Bob and Pansy were the most awesome couple. I knew them since I was a baby. They were family. Joy and Jeff, you have so many wonderful memories. Bob is with Pansy and my mom and dad too! Heaven is a fun place right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I didn't know Bob that well but he was always so kind to me. I never saw Bob without a smile on his face. In my short time of his life, I could always see why everyone loved him. I know he is with Pansy and she is say to him " Bob, stop that " and she is loving every moment !!
