My thoughts and prayers are with Daniel's family during this time. Fran, Ted and Susie I will treasure the time in Austin, Texas when Fran and I spent time at Ted and Susie's and I met Dan. He was a fun and delightful man. I know he would want you to continue to Rock On in his memory. Remember the precious times you spent together.

A great story teller, his knowledge of American History was very deep. We liked to play guitars, BBQ, mix it up with the Kamp Kulow crowd and play our KPFT blues. I've often thought that the time I spent with him was always fun, entertaining and he was a true friend in his actions. He would be there at 4AM if you needed that, never complain, sweat himself silly for you; and not say a single thing about that the next time you met. He was very loyal to his group of friends in H town....but also the gang at the beach during his youth. I hope he is surfing his goofy footed way in Heaven and he knows that I'll miss him. Glad I got the chance to say it to him too!!

When I first met Dan, we were neighbors in Houston at age 2. Only one month apart in age, we spent our years growing up together and we became brothers. He was talented and loved his hobbies, and many of us enjoyed those hobbies with him .
We lost track of each other over the years but each time we met up, we picked up right where we had left off. Daniel Robert Gillis was one of the kindest people I have ever met . He was slow to anger and he had a smile that always put people at ease.
I will miss him.
Rest in Peace my Brother

It was hard not to love Dan. He was always respectful, kind and generous. My special memories of Dan are of him playing his guitar and his wonderful mischievous smile. His smile lives on in his daughter Melissa and granddaughter Evelyn Arbor. My condolences to his family.
