William F. "Bill" Moran, age 90, of Somerset, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Norma M. (Brownell) Moran.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late William E. and Mary (Moroney) Moran, he was a 1945 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. After receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Army following World War II, Bill went back to school and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Bradford Durfee College of Technology in 1951.
Mr. Moran was employed as a Civil Engineer and Construction Supervisor with the Massachusetts Department of Public Works for 38 years until his retirement in 1989. Bill was a lifetime member of the Somerset Lions Club and a member of the former Suspiro's Country Club in Somerset.
He is survived by his two children, Michael D. Moran and his wife Pamela F. Moran of Fall River, and Lynne A. Robitaille and her husband Philip M. Robitaille DDS of Somerset; four grandchildren, John T. Moran, Kathleen E. "Cathey" Moran, Julie L. Nahas and her husband Jason, and James P. "Jimmy" Robitaille, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was the father of the late William D. Moran and brother of the late Angela Torpey and Mary Miller.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10am in St. Patrick's Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Somerset. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4pm to 7pm. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the Somerset Lions Club, PO Box 303, Somerset, MA 02726. I met Bill when I was a golfer at Suspiro Country Club.
Bill was sixty years my senior. Bill's great personality and warm manner attracted everyone to him no matter what the age. I can still see that great smile and hear that wonderful laugh. Mike and Lynne my deepest sympathy on his passiing . His personality will stay with us forever.
