Dr. Earl M. Hall, 96, of Montgomery, AL went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2018. He was born to Sam and Elsie Hall on March 29, 1921. He graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL and earned a BA degree from Samford University. He earned a Master's in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY and received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Samford University in 1966. He served in the ministry for 73 years and retired in 2011 at the age of 90. He began his ministry at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Tarrant City, AL in 1938 and served as Pastor of Moody Cross Roads and Odenville Baptist, St. Claire County, AL from 1943-1945; Cook Springs Baptist, Pell City, AL 1945-1947; Winfield Baptist, Winfield, AL 1947-1953; Campbellsburg Baptist, Campbellsburg, KY 1953-1957; First Baptist Church, Opp, AL 1957-1961; Normandale Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL 1961-1986. He served as Interim Pastor of Dalraida Baptist, Montgomery, AL May – November 1986; Forrest Park Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL February – August 1987; Associate Pastor Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL 1987 – 2011. He was named Pastor Emeritus of Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL in 2011.
He loved golf and served as Chaplain of the Alabama 60+ Golfer's Association. He was a past member of the Kiwanis and Rotary Club. He served on the Boards and various Committees of the Alabama Baptist Association and Alabama Baptist Convention. Additionally, he served with the Montgomery Ministerial Association, was a Trustee of both the Alabama Baptist Children's Home, and the Baptist Hospital Board. He also served on many Community Boards and Committees such as The American Red Cross, Arthritis Chapter Board, Traffic Safety Commission, and the Board of Delegates for United Appeal.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 73 years, Ethel Cole Hall; and brothers Ross Hall, Dr. Harold Hall, Vernon Hall.
He is survived by his children James Hall, Donna (Mike) Mulcahy, John (Brenda) Hall; grandchildren Sonya (Jeff) Wilson, Joseph (Tina) Hall, Derek (Leanne) Hall, Mike Mulcahy, Jr., Randy Mulcahy; and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank his devoted caregivers Rosa Sanders and Susie Relf for the special love and care they showed him.
It is impossible to know how far his influence has reached, but the family has heard many wonderful stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm, and Saturday, January 13, 2018 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL.
Services will be Saturday January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at Heritage Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL. Graveside services for family and friends will be Saturday January 13, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, Trussville, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Dr. Earl M. Hall Scholarship Fund, Heritage Baptist Church, 1849 Perry Hill Road, Montgomery, AL 36106-2740.
