Antonio "Tonicha" F. Paz
November 10, 1952 – January 9, 2018

Antonio F. Paz, affectionately known as "Tonicha", passed away Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 at the age of 65 surrounded by his family at Stanford Hospital. He was born on November 10th, 1952 in Velas, Sao Jorge, Azores to Americo and Leonilda da Paz. He joined the Portuguese military in January of 1973 and upon his return home he reunited with his beloved "amada" Lucilia Dos Santos. On June 12, 1976 he married Lucilia and together they had three children whom he loved dearly. In 1981, Tonicha, Lucilia and their first child, Vania, moved to Rhode Island from the Azores. Their son Tony was born in 1982 in Rhode Island and shortly thereafter in 1984 they moved to California. Their third child, Jeffrey, was born in San Jose, CA and that is where Tonicha and his family spent the last 35 years. He retired from Mullen Tile a few years ago. Tonicha's most cherished memories included visits back to his home country, where he could reunite with family and friends. During those visits and at home he enjoyed traditional touradas, playing cards and most importantly his family. An avid soccer fan, Tonicha not only enjoyed playing the game with his teammates and club team in Sao Jorge, Group Desportivo Velense, he also faithfully cheered on his favorite team Sporting Clube de Portugal. Needless to say his favorite color was green.
Tonicha is preceded in death by his beloved son Jeffery Paz, his parents Americo & Leonilda da Paz and his siblings Americo, Albertina and Emidio da Paz. He leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Lucilia. His daughter, Vania and Oriolando Betencor, son, Tony Paz and Nelinha Fernandes and grandchildren Bella and Dalia Betencor and Nevaeh and Faith Paz, who he was incredibly devoted to. A cherished brother to Saozinha Paz in Sao Miguel, Azores, and a dear Godfather and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind, his mother-in-law, brothers in-law and sisters in-law, cousins and many friends. He will be missed by all of his family and friends.

Antonio "Tonicha" F. Paz
November 10, 1952 – January 9, 2018
