Rosemary Gremillion Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2018.

Rosemary Lambert Gremillion, passed away on January 10, 2018, a week after her 88th birthday. She was extremely proud of her age and loved to tell everyone! She died peacefully in her sleep at her daughter's home. Rosemary was born in Des Moines, Iowa, but lived most of her life in San Antonio, Texas. Rosemary attended school in San Antonio, including Edgar A. Poe Middle School and Brackenridge High School. She worked in SAISD for 28 years as an attendance clerk, counselor's secretary and principal's secretary. Many students worked with her and recognized her through the years, remembering her glamourous appearance and petite size. Rosemary was an excellent seamstress and a homemaker. One summer, Rosemary sewed over 100 "Wednesday Uniforms" for the Highlands Brigade pep squad, all the while keeping a home and cooking. She enjoyed baking tremendously, and even baked a few wedding cakes. Rosemary had a love for roses, as does the entire side of her family. Rosemary was very proud that her father actually wrote the lyrics and music to "The San Antonio Rose". Her sweet volunteer, Tammy, even played the song for her on the phone a couple weeks ago.
Rosemary was a 52 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Bethany Chapter. She served as Worthy Matron twice. She was very active for most of her life and participated in countless charitable activities in support of the community.
Rosemary is preceded in death by her husband, William Nelson Gremillion, her father, Robert David Symons, her mother, Bertha Wurz Symons, and brother, Robert David Symons, II. She is survived by Richard L. Lambert, Sr., and their children, Marilyn Rose Lambert, Richard Lee Lambert, Jr., and Vicky Lynn Lambert. Surviving sister is Barbara June Symons and grandchildren, Meagan Lynette King and Lauryn Kay Bailey. There are also many surviving nieces, nephews, in-laws and grand dogs.
The family would like to thank Dr. William Craig, Rosemary's cardiologist for "many moons" and his beautiful nurses and staff. Also, Dr. Walter Walthall, her primary care physician, was extremely caring and we wish to thank him, as well. There are many others!
Special thanks to the entire Kindred Hospice team, especially Nurse Jayandra, Social Worker Kara, and Volunteer Leader Tammy. We can't say enough about their expertise, love and kindness. We also appreciate the team of Morningside Ministries, especially Nurse Clorinda and Teresa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 6pm-9pm at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 12pm. Entombment will be January 30, 2018 at Ft. Sam for family members.
