Ellie Kaye died peacefully at her home on January 13, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was 71. Ellie was born on August 15, 1946 in Boston, MA to Charlotte (Berenson) and Leo Goldman, who predeceased her. She was raised in Sharon, MA, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1973, and to Sacramento, CA in 1978.
Ellie earned her BS in Accounting from California State University Sacramento, and owned her own bookkeeping and pet sitting businesses until her retirement at age 71. In the 50 years of her working life, she was also a medical secretary, legal secretary, and office manager.
Ellie was athletic all her life, playing football on the street with her cousins, and tennis, racketball, bowling, softball, and sailing. She took up golf in her late 40s, and was very proud of her FOUR holes in one! In the past 12 years, she loved to travel. Some of her favorite destinations were Italy, Greece, China, Puerto Vallarta, and Hawaii. She also loved live theatre. Another of her passions were her many beloved dogs, most recently Cuddles. Ellie left a very personal legacy of Tallis bags (for prayer shawls), which she lovingly needlepointed for her nephews, great-nephews, and great-nieces - 7 in all.
Ellie will be greatly missed by her sisters, Lydia Inghram and Suzanne Schaff of Sacramento, and her nephews Brian (Anya) Ilfeld of San Diego, and Jeff (Jo) Ilfeld of Berkeley. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Arland Inghram. She will also be greatly missed by her great-nephew Elan and great-nieces Mari, Haley, and Ella of San Diego, and her great-nephews Adin and Nathaniel and great-niece Miriam of Berkeley.
