Cheng-Lu Wu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 6, 2018.

Our beloved father, Cheng-Lu Wu, was born in 1923 in the Hangzhou city of the Zhejiang province in southeast China. As the youngest of the family, with two older brothers and two older sisters, he became the most precious child in the family. Even in early childhood, he was a brilliant and diligent student. During his high school years, World War II broke out and Japan invaded China. He went to Chongqing city, joined the Red Cross to provide medical treatment in the battlefield.
After the war ended, he entered the 46th Class of the Department of Medicine of the National Defense Medical College. In 1949, he moved to Taiwan with his school. In 1952, he graduated, obtained a medical license, and started to practice medicine as a physician in a large hospital. In 1957, he began to attend Kaohsiung Mandarin Church (now called Kaohsiung Christian Chi-Shien Church), where he recognized the truth of the gospel and received the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was baptized on November 17, 1957. In May of 1958, he married our beloved mother, Ms. Ling-Na Huang, in the church.
He exhibited professional excellence, financial discipline, and selfless integrity. He selflessly dedicated himself to honoring God and serving others. As a practicing doctor for many years, he saved numerous lives and was always praised amongst the patients that he was truly a good doctor. He often told patients that the real doctor is the Lord Jesus Christ. In any position, he never bossed anyone around. Instead, he truly cared about the needs of his colleagues. He lived his life as a good example, serving the patients personally, so they can get better treatment and help.
By God's grace, whether if he was the chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine, the affiliated medical institution dean, the medical director, or the vice president of the hospital, he was blameless before God and man. On December 4, 1989, in Taiwan, he was ordained to be an elder in Kaohsiung Church by Elder Yung Wu from Taipei.
Throughout all aspects of his life, he diligently and wholeheartedly responded to God's love by loving God, loving the church, loving his family, and loving those he encountered in the world. He was an excellent role model: a good brother, a good son, a good son-in-law, a good husband, a good dad, a good father-in-law, and a good grandfather. Our father's record of integrity, during his blessed lifespan of 95 years, is full of miracles and grace, overflowing with the everlasting love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I met Mr. Wu at the LaPlata Fresenius Dialysis Center in LaPlata. His amazing daughter took such tender and excellent care of him and often brought treats to all of us there. My wife and I are deeply saddened at the passing of Mr. Wu and we send our most sincere sympathy to his family and loved ones.
