My father called to tell me the news yesterday, and it has really haunted me. I have not seen Anne since we were young children. But I remember how pretty she was and how much I liked her self-confidence and the beginnings of what I wonder might have matured into a wicked sense of humor. She was not afraid to play with the boys, and she could really needle her dad at supper time. She had a funny laugh when it was not always the obvious time for comedy. Was always up for a trick. She used to like to climb up and get the loaf of white bread. Then she would slather a slice with ketchup. I remember sometimes she was allowed to skip part of supper based on the "ketchup sandwich" (which she might have planned based on the night's menu). I never looked upon a piece of white bread covered in ketchup the same. I wish I had known her later in life. Fond memories of her house and her family- particularly her mother who was so afraid of dogs it invited further pranks.
