Helga Shatto, 90, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany and was a resident of Hampton for 70 years.
Helga was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was also a charter member of the Tidewater German American Society, and traveled extensively with her longtime companion, Ed Council.
Helga was preceded in rest by her parents, Rudolf and Veronika Flemming. She is survived by her son, John Shatto and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Adrienne Foster and husband, Paul, Robert Shatto, and Meredith Woodson and husband, Amani; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Morgan Foster, and Kyle Woodson.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park. A celebration of Helga's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 19 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.

So incredibly sad to hear. I know you are in a better place. I remember going to my Omies house while she hosted a luncheon or an event and always having great conversations with you. It was quite sometime ago but I remember your sweetness and kindness. You and Hatte always gave me a laugh too. We would always talk about how long your hair was. Your family is in my thoughts. You were an amazing and kind soul. You will be missed.
