Alice Roberts, 91, passed away on January 12, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, TX from complications of Pneumonia.
Alice was born in Colbert, OK on April 20, 1926 to Martin & Mary Hock. She married her husband of sixty years, Charles Roberts Sr. in April 1952. They made their home in Denison, TX and raised six children together.
She retired from Safeway and later from the Denison School District where she served young people in the school cafeteria.
She valued and prized family above all. Before she became physically challenged she loved to cook and share meals with family, dance and exercise. She was a member of First Christian Church but had not been actively attending for many years due to health concerns. In earlier years she was a member of the VFW Ladies auxiliary.
In recent years she enjoyed reading, watching movies from bygone days and spending time with her great grandchildren.
She is survived by her eldest daughter Elaine Manning and her husband Bob, her daughter and caregiver Debra Hiner and her husband Martin, daughter Sarah Roberts and son Harley Roberts. She is also survived by her grandsons; Rusty Hardy, Cary Hardy & wife Carol & their children Caden, Charlotte & Chloe, Devin Hardy and his wife Michelle and their daughter Kira, Scott Manning and his wife Dawn, Clint Manning and Joshua Sisemore. She is also survived by her two sisters, Frances Wright and Mary Jo Hedgecock.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Roberts Sr., her daughter Pam Coleman, her son Charles Roberts Jr., and granddaughter Stormy Roberts.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life Service officiated by Pastor Cheryl Murphy in the Chapel at Waples United Methodist Church in Denison at 11 a.m. on February 3, 2018. At a later date her remains will be escorted to the National Cemetery in Dallas, TX by Bratcher Funeral Home where she will be interred beside her husband. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.
