Mr. William "Billy" George Sanders, age 72, of Marietta, passed away on January 18, 2018. He was born on July 6, 1945 to his parents, George and Katherine "Katie" Sanders in Martin, TN. He lived the greater portion of his adult life in the Greater Metro Atlanta Area. After graduating Russell High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps and later married his sweetheart , Sandra June Sibley. After owning a plumbing company business for a while he joined UA Local 72, Atlanta Plumbers and Pipefitters and Steamfitters, in 1969. He was very active in his church, Vinings First Baptist Church in Smyrna. He became proficient in calligraphy and was self-taught. His other hobbies included Karaoke, fabric and natural color painting. He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
Survived by his wife, Jane Weathers Sanders; children, Jonathan Mark Sanders, Susan Elaine Ballentine, Michael Joseph Sanders, Kimberly Anne Perkins, Thomas Curry, Christine Cross; sister, Frankie Pratt; brothers, Nick Sanders, Tip Sanders; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM in the chapel of Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Mixon officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 4 until 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Those who desire, in lieu of flowers, may make contributions to Vinings First Baptist Church General Fund, 4182 S Cobb Dr. SE, Smyrna, GA 30080.

So sad to hear the news of Billy's passing. What a great guy and talented calligrapher. I remember fondly our Buckboard dancing days - miss those times. Rest in peace dear Billy - you will be missed by many. Prayers for Jane and the rest of the family.

Billy was my brother-in law. He was such a good man and very talented. He did beautiful calligraphy, I still have some he did for me. He had a great singing voice at Karoke and in the choir at Vinings First Baptist Church. He was a great Husband to my sister, Jane. He will be sorely missed. RIP Billy
