Frances Louise, Nunnery, Harrell passed away January 18, 2018, at the Quapaw Nursing and Rehab Center, Hot Springs, Arkansas. She loved her nickname "Chick".
She was born May 31, 1923 in Amite County, Mississippi. She married and was predeceased by her husband of almost 50 years, Guy Mills, "Big Daddy" Harrell, Jr., her son, Guy Mills Harrell III, her grand son, Claude Eugene Brasseale, and her parents, Manning Louis Nunnery and Ernestine Eupora Erwin, Nunnery. She had two older brothers, Manny Louis Nunnery and Harold Nunnery who died when very young men.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Nunnery, Keith; daughter Frances Louise Harrell, Brasseale, Conville; grandchildren, Kari Celeste Brasseale, Morvant, Darryl Scott Brasseale, Michael Eric Brasseale, and Stephen Guy Harrell, and she has five great grandchildren; Kai Marley and Sati Song Brasseale; Michelle Adrienne and John Ross Morvant, and Morgan Ashley Harrell.
She and her husband, Big Daddy, were in love as long as they lived. She said she would never remarry. Chick enjoyed this quote (the source has been lost), which she said described Big Daddy perfectly; "'Give me a patient man. Give me one that is kind, whose sense of humor never fails, who can make me laugh, who never bores me, who can cook, who's a little smarter than I, so I can learn something new everyday, not a lot (I don't want a pedagogue), and one who can hook up a VCR properly'. I had a gem and I wish I'd told him so more often". She said, "so, when a man seems interested in me, I say this quote to him. They declare that no one is that much, that good, and that perfect".
Big Daddy once told the story about when he first saw Chick. He was working with a drilling crew on a water well alongside a dirt road in Mississippi. He said he looked up and saw this beautiful blond headed girl walking down the road with some other girls. He was so awed by Chick's beauty he had to meet her. The rest, as they say, is history.
She was affectionately always known as Chick. No grandma for her. She was a beautiful lady, always had a warm smile; was very smart, and a delight to be with. She was very health conscious, ate well, and took such good care of herself that even in her later years she continued to be beautiful. Chick enjoyed reading, oil painting, being a stay at home mom, sun bathing, chatting with friends, driving a nice car, eating seafood, especially if prepared by Big Daddy, watching TV, exercising, family gatherings, and being with grand kids. She did work outside the home for a time with an electrical wholesale company.
Chick became afflicted with dementia way too early in her long life. She moved from Covington, Louisiana to Hot Springs, Arkansas so her daughter and grandson, Eric, could look after her.
Her family is scattered all across the country and will each in their own way, celebrate her life. She will be interred with her husband, Big Daddy in the Roselawn Cemetery, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She was a thoughtful person and full of love, and she will be missed!
