Janet M. Christeson

Janet Merle Christeson passed away Thursday morning, January 18, 2018, at the Scott and White Hospital at Round Rock.
Janet was born December 29, 1936, at Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Myrtle (Kobliska) Neiderloh. While still a toddler, the family moved to Chetek, Wisconsin, where her parents operated the Red and White grocery store. Janet worked in the store as soon as she was able and graduated from the Chetek High School. She then attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree, majoring in medical technology.
After graduation, Janet worked at the Minneapolis General Hospital, and was certified as a Registered Medical Technologist, after passing the state test. She next moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she worked in the local hospital and met her future husband, John J. Christeson, at the local bowling alley. John was a student at Eau Claire State College. They married February 14, 1959, at the Chetek Lutheran Church and resided in Eau Claire until John graduated in 1960. They then moved to Minneapolis, where John begin his career with the Food and Drug Administration. Their two children, Eric and Gail Christeson, where born, while the family lived in Crystal, Minnesota.
The family followed John on his various moves with the Food And Drug Administration, to their offices in Detroit, Philadelphia and lastly to their headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The family lived in Laurel, Maryland. Janet retired in 2001 and she and John moved to Sun City, near Georgetown, Texas, where she resided until her death. In Sun City Janet was a long time member of The Singers, as well as a member of The Red Hat Society and several neighborhood coffee groups. She also played MahJong.
Janet is survived by her husband John, son Eric Christeson (Dorothea) of Philadelphia, and Dr.Gail Christeson of Austin (John) and a brother, Rev. James Niederloh (Janet) of Wisconsin and grandchildren: Phillip and Kevin Christeson of Germany and Cameron and Megan Goff of Austin..
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church in Georgetown. The burial of her cremated remains will be held at a later date at the Central States Veterans Cemetery at Killeen, Texas.
