Raymond Oviyach Obituary

Raymond H. Oviyach was born on July 14, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away on January 18, 2018 in Kingwood Texas. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Therese Oviyach, Son John Oviyach and his wife Susie; Granddaughter Kelli Leake and her husband Tim, Granddaughter Sara Oviyach, Sister Bernice Montgomery and Nephews Mike and Dave Montgomery.

He served in the Air Force from 1950-1954 during the Korean War, stationed in Europe. After getting out of the Air Force, he continued working as a civilian Air Craft Inspector in Belgium where he met Therese. After returning to Chicago a year later, Therese joined him and they were married in 1955. Over the years, Raymond owned his own Auto Mechanic Garage until 1968 when he joined Triton College as a professor in Auto Mechanics, where he worked for 25 years until he retired in 1998. Raymond and Therese moved to Kingwood, Texas in 2008. He has been a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and educator and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Dave Montgomery

His thirst for knowledge was an inspiration to me throughout my years of education. His generosity, love of family and patience with students were second to none. I will honor his memory by living a life of continued education and learning. You made a difference in many lives, Uncle Ray!
