Melissa Diane Gootkin, 54, passed away on January 16, 2018, at home. Born in Santa Maria to Robert and Dee Weiss, Melissa was a long time resident of San Luis Obispo County. She was a registered nurse and was active in various community organizations. Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Howard; her daughter, Hannah; and her sons: Eric and Ben. She also leaves behind her parents; brother, Kevin (Betsy) Weiss; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Wendy) Gootkin; sister-in- law, Sharon (Michael) Landau; many adoring nieces and nephews; and her mother-in-law, Jan Gootkin. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 22, 2018, at Kuehl Nicolay Funeral Home, 1703 Spring St., Paso Robles, with final interment to be at a later date at Walker Union Cemetery in Oregon.
