Dorothy Ilene Markle, 91, born Dec. 19, 1926 in Gale, IL, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Swansea, IL.
She was born on December 19, 1926 in Gale Illinois, the daughter of Jesse and Marie Masterson.
Dorothy earned her Masters of Education from SIEU and retired from District 189 in East St. Louis in 1992. She was a member of St. Theresa's Church in Belleville and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Dan Markle; grandchildren, Daniel Markle; Melissa (Dustin) Finnegan; Matthew Markle; great-grandchildren, Gavin Giedeman; Kyler Finnegan; Myklen Bodle; and a special friend, Mary Margaret Burke.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Marie (nee Walters) Masterson; brothers, Fred Abernathy; sisters, Thelma McClary and Dolores Cimarolli.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church. Friends may gather with the family at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
