Our great family patriarch, Thomas Alma Duffin, age 90, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called home on a beautiful Sunday morning, January 21, 2018. He was born October 7, 1927 to Cyril Duffin and Rachel Pyne in Salt Lake City, the youngest of five children.
As a child he worked hard on the family turkey and dairy farm, then with his mother's encouragement received his law degree from the University of Utah and was an active member of the Bar until his death. He served an LDS mission to Great Britain from 1948-1950. Upon returning he married his sweetheart "Jannie," Janice Buehner in the Salt Lake Temple on June 10, 1953. They were blessed with six children: Julie, James (Cathy) Duffin, David (Kathy Jo) Duffin, Diane (Dale) Fisher, Daniel (Linda) Duffin, Kathy (Bruce) McLean as well as 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
His greatest joy in life came from working alongside his children and grandchildren teaching them the value of work. He loved the Lord and served with all his heart his whole life including church service as high councilor, bishop, YM General Board member, nursery leader, and taking special care of the widows in his neighborhood. Highlights of his church service include serving with his wife in the Baltimore, Maryland Mission (1998-1999), and in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a respected counselor, teacher, neighbor, and friend.
Preceded in death by his daughter Julie, and his siblings, Max (Aurelia) Duffin, James Duffin, Marie (Ray) Crosbie, Virginia (Ralph) Howe and (Brent) Malin.

Dear Duffin Family -
I had the privilege of working with Tom for 20+ years when he represented Bear River Mutual. I really enjoyed the time we worked together on cases and issues. I had the greatest respect for him. I was also very happy to work with Dan as well. I send you all my deepest sympathies - I wish I could have attended the service to give my respects. Sending well wishes to all of you. Love, Mindy Starley

Love Tom Duffin and forever grateful for his great service and caring nature. He was our business attorney, but more importantly, he became a true, trusted friend. He and Dan served me and my family well through some ugly times. So blessed to have known him. Sending my love and prayers to the family. Would have attended the service, but just found out today. May the Lord comfort you all. Such a great legacy he has left you all, along with cherished memories until you meet again.

I did not know Brother Duffin personally, but I knew a couple of his children -- Jim and Diane -- and I was always aware of him and Sister Duffin. They were stalwarts in our stake. I'm grateful for his good example and for his wonderful legacy, that leaves this world a better place! God bless, Duffin Family!
