Lawrence Guy Huffer, 89, a native and resident of Staunton, Virginia, husband of the late Elisabeth "Liesel" Blankenberg, died on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in the home of his daughter in Dover, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully in his sleep while visiting with family during the holidays.

Lawrence was born on May 20, 1928, to the late Nellie Virginia (Phillips) and Guy Raymond Huffer. He spent his early life in Staunton before moving to Washington, DC and then Takoma Park, Maryland where he and Liesel raised their family.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Lawrence G. Huffer, Jr., and his older sister Mary E. Croft; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Warren Reeves and Wayburn Croft.

He is survived by his sister, Lucille V. Reeves of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his twin brother, Lee R. Huffer of Mt. Sidney, Virginia; his youngest brother Meron B. Huffer and his wife, Ruth, of Bealeton, Virginia; his sons, Kenneth L. Huffer of Georgia and Lawrence P. Huffer of Burtonsville, Maryland; his daughters, Alice F. Huffer, Magdalena "Evi" Huffer, and her husband, Brett D. Van Akkeren, of Washington, DC, Sidi V. Huffer of Dover, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Noelle A. Huffer of Burtonsville, Maryland and Eva S. and her husband, Vernon L. Packer of Keymar, Maryland; two great-granddaughters, Elisabeth S. and Isabelle G. Packer of Keymar, Maryland; many nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 pm, on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the chapel of Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. Burial will be in Weyers Cave Cemetery. Mr. Huffer's cremains will be at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, a light lunch will be provided.
