99, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left us to be with the Lord, on January 18, 2018. She was born April 22. 1918 in Tampa, FL, the daughter of Francisco and Elena (Borges) Menendez. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose, in 1994. She is survived by son, Jose and wife Barbara; daughter, Elaine Smith and husband Warren; as well as five grand-children (Patrick, Amy, Kathleen, Ryan and Alexandra); and two great-grand-children (Greyson and Keira). Dora was quintessential Tampa. In her youth she rode on the Centro Espaol Gaspirilla Parade float, and was employed during her working years in Tampa's cigar industry. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church located in Tampa's Palmetto Beach neighborhood. Her indomitable spirt lives in her loved ones and in all who knew her. The family will receive friends at 10 am on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL; with services commencing at 11 am; and burial following at Sunset Garden Cemetery, Thonotosassa, FL.

My Tia Dora was my Father's sister. She was a remarkable woman who was gentle and kind and knew the meaning of being a Christian. Anyone who came to her home was greeted with her beautiful smile. I have some wonderful memories of my time with her. She is resting now free from her health problems and happy to be reunited with her family. Marilyn Menendez-Sellers, niece (Tampa, FL
