Gioconda Catherine "Jo" Seccafen Sanford died peacefully on January 20, 2018 in Houston, Texas at the age of 96.
Gioconda is survived by her son Robert Sanford and numerous family members in the East Texas area and the Savona area of Italy. She is preceded in death by husband, Daniel Elee Sanford and son, Daniel Hermann Sanford.
Gioconda was born on April 5, 1921 in Udine, Italy to Davide Seccafen and Elisabetta Querin Seccafen. She married Daniel E. Sanford in 1948. After living in various US Army bases in Italy and Germany while Daniel was an officer, they moved to Houston in 1959. Gioconda began working for the F.W. Woolworth Company in Meyerland Plaza as a salesperson. The couple welcomed two sons into their home, Daniel Hermann "Danny" and Robert David Sanford.
Gioconda was accomplished at gardening and loved to plant flowers and vegetables in her backyard home garden. She was a dedicated individual who loved her work at Woolworth's and had many loving co-workers and customers over the years until she retired in 1988.
A funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, with refreshments served afterwards in church assemby hall.

So pleased that years ago I was able to meet and visit with Mrs Sanford and share our love of gardening. I have witnessed Robert's loving care for her over recent yearsno one could ask for a better son (or mother). Honored to support Robert in planning this final tribute to his mother. The funeral service was lovely.
