Doris E. Hayes, 92, Phoenix, passed away peacefully in her home on January 17, 2018. She was born in Lyons, Illinois on August 29, 1925 to John and Eleanor Gumtow. Doris graduated from Morton High School. Doris met George and they were married on October 4, 1952 moving to Phoenix shortly thereafter. Doris worked at Reynolds Metal prior to having children. She was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Doris was a wonderful neighborhood mom where all the kids in the neighborhood loved to play. Her hobbies were gardening and fiddling around with her flowers. She was an avid reader, loved to do the crossword puzzles and enjoyed a good episode of CSI with her cats on her lap. She is preceded in death by her husband George and her sister Agnes. Doris is survived by her sister Char Bierle; daughter Kathie (Jeff) and son Greg (Jennifer); grandchildren Krystal (Chris), Brady (Alison), Brandon (Chelse), Raymond and Tommy (Shelby). Graveside service will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 2:00pm at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 2300 W Van Buren St, Phoenix. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00am at the Beatitudes Campus, 1610 W Glendale Ave, Phoenix 85021.
