Emmett D. Fancher, born on October 4, 1935 in Ackerman, Mississippi, went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 21, 2018.
Emmett and his wife, Faye, moved to Houston, Texas after graduating from Mississippi College in 1957, where Emmett began his career in public accounting. After working for Ernst & Young from January 1957 until September 1959, he returned to graduate school at the University of Houston, where he received his MBA in Accounting in 1960. During his graduate studies he passed the CPA exam. He became a partner in the CPA firm A.H. Gardes & Co. in 1961, where he practiced until 1984, at which time the firm was liquidated and he began his own CPA firm, Emmett D. Fancher & Co. He retired in July 2002.
Emmett was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and his church. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Bellaire and at Westbury Baptist Church in Houston. He served for many years as the chairman of the finance committee at Westbury Baptist Church as well as at Metropolitan Baptist Church. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Grapevine, Texas, prior to his death.
Emmett is preceded in death by his parents and his older brothers, Rev. James Fancher and Dr. W. H. Fancher. He is survived by his loving wife Faye, his sons J. Donald Fancher and his wife Tess of Roswell, Georgia, and Jeff David Fancher and his wife Linda of Southlake, Texas, grandsons Andrew Parkes Fancher, William Joseph Fancher, and Tate Littleton Fancher, and granddaughters Lauren Holly Fancher, and Lindsey Nicole Fancher.
There will be a visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, on Saturday, January 27, 2018. The visitation will be followed by a grave site service at the cemetery. The grave site service will be conducted by Rev. Gary Moore, Senior Associate Pastor at Second Baptist Church, Houston. Friends are invited to attend.

Faye and family, we are so sorry to hear of Emmett's passing. We will always have such fond memories of our days with Emmett and Faye in the young marrieds class at Bellaire Baptist Church starting in the mid-1950s. We so enjoyed the photos on this site, taken during those days!
