Lewis J. Oubre, Jr. died on January 20, 2018. He was born in St. James, LA to the late Lewis and Emma Oubre. Lewis is preceded in death by his first wife of 48 years, Miriam P. Oubre and his second wife, of 2 months, Margaret H. Oubre. He is survived by his daughters, Susan Oubre and Lori O. Hotard (Louis); grandchildren, Jennifer Hotard, Peyton Oubre, Veronica Sheilds, Regina Hotard, Angela Zimmer and Steven Hotard; his brother, Richard Oubre (Patricia) of Fair Oaks, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and family members. Lewis is also survived by his soul mate and dance partner, Dorothy "Dottie" Jacomine. The Jacomine family took Lewis in as one of their own, always showing their love and support.
Lewis proudly served in the US Army. Throughout his career he worked in the Motion Film business for many years and later went on to work in purchasing at Loyola University. Lewis was an avid golfer and a member of the Riverlands Country Club. He enjoyed traveling and going to spring training in Phoenix with his brother and nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:00PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Kidney Foundation.
