Bruce M. Ponthieux passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the age of 65. Bruce was a native of Metairie and a long- time resident of Harahan. He was a member of Krewe of Centurions and proudly served as King XIII in 1992. Bruce or "Porkchop" was an avid golfer and member of Colonial Country Club. With humor and love his main focus on life was always to support and care for his family.
Beloved husband of Karen Ranatza Ponthieux for 25 years. Son of Betty Neuman Ponthieux and the late Warren J. Ponthieux, Sr. Proud and loving father of his children: Colin Ponthieux Minster (Andrew Minster), Anthony Ranatza (Carl Duplessis), Mark Ranatza (Chrissy Juhas Ranatza) and Christopher Ponthieux. Brother of Melissia Ponthieux; Warren Ponthieux, Jr. (Denise); and Brian Ponthieux (Pam). Grandfather of Molly Minster, Mackenzie Minster and Austin Ranatza.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in Metairie Cemetery on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.

I knew Bruce in my training in 2000-2001 where he helped teach me to become a better doctor. He was kind and thoughtful and explained things to me without getting impatient. I have only good memories. Rest in peace my friend and may God rest your soul.
