Alfred Marion Mills passed away January 22, 2018 at the age of 82. He is survived by his beloved wife Lou Genia Mills, daughters Sharisse Tompkins and Deidra Rosenbaum & husband Charles, brother Jimmie Mills & wife Barbara, grandchildren: Brianna Oberle & husband David, Quinton Tompkins, and Garrick Tompkins. He will be remembered fondly as an artist, adventurer, and teacher.
Alfred Mills was a talented artist. He used his talents to operate a family run sheet-metal shop with his father and brother. His metal work can be found on many homes in the Houston area to this day including the homes he built for his family over the years. His final home was filled with metal art inspired by his love of nature.
Alfred's love of nature led his family on many cross-country adventures. He camped in beautiful parks all over the country, photographing everything as he went. His home was filled with photos and stories of his trips to places like Germany, Big Bend, Arkansas, and Colorado. For their 50th wedding anniversary Alfred and Lou Genia went on a road-trip to Wyoming.
Every art project and adventure was a lesson to him. He was always learning and growing. He was a wealth of information, and he was never too busy to teach a willing student. He taught us the value of hard work. He taught us it was never too late to learn something new. He taught us to be confident in everything we do. He taught us to learn from our mistakes and to keep moving forward. He taught us how to build, how to grow, and how to love.
Alfred Mills will be forever loved. His memories will continue to warm our hearts and inspire us.
