I am saddened by this loss to everyone who had the good fortune to spend precious time with Brydon, particularly the DeWitt family.

My years as a student and employee at Bridgewater College are most influential in many regards to my daily life. Brydon was one of the very first at BC, during my first few weeks on campus in fact, to make a lasting impression.

I still live in Bridgewater and walk the campus often, bringing back memories of events and people. He came to mind during one of those walks last week, before we lost him. I can hear his laughter over something I wrote in an article for the BC magazine. I was very embarrassed at the time, but it was seminal moment and I became the better for it. He was the one I was more concerned about telling of my career change from BC to JMU. We also had fun off campus, coaching together in the Bridgewater Little League and winning our share of games.

May the peace of knowing his extended impact upon others comfort the DeWitt family. I trust he is resting in peace and comfort in his own knowing of a life well lived.

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Dewitt and the entire family. It was a great pleasure to work with Brydon as an employee of WHSV-TV during the late 1970's and early 1980's when he was a part of the FOCUS television program. I also served with Brydon and the Focus Committee after I left TV3 in 1985. It was an honor to have known Brydon Dewitt.

We are so sad to learn of Brydon's passing. He was more than an administrator at Bridgewater College. In keeping with the culture of the College, Brydon also was an educator, teaching students how to navigate institutional and personal growth, change and development. He guided students in their career paths and helped them apply their education to their vocations. He will be missed. Rob Stolzman (Providence, RI, BC '83)

He will be missed by everyone across the Commonwealth and beyond. May God be with each of you during these moments and give you the strength that he alone can provide. We have you and your family in our prayers but more importantly God has you in his grip of grace.

Dear Lou,
I'm not sure if you remember me at all, but Brydon took me under his wing when I was just starting out in the business world and I worked alongside him for a project with Goodwill. He was like a father figure to me helping me build ideas and organize our presentations. He always, always spoke so highly of you and it was clear how much he loved you. He was a true family man and gentleman in every sense of the word. I just wish I could have told him these things myself. I am so sorry for your loss and hold you and your family in my prayers.

Dear Lou and Family,
My heart is heavy as I learned of Brydon's passing. The flood of warm memories, especially of our young years, remain. I was always so proud of my dear friend's accomplishments. Who knew what we would become or where we would call home as we marveled at the March of the Ants down the brick walk under the grape arbor on old Cromer Street or fought for the beautiful damsel as King Arthur and Sir Gwain, brandishing our wooden swords and cardboard shieflds to protect the realm as we attacked yet another castle somewhere on the grounds of Hammond Street School. And, our Bruce High years at the public address system, the school newspaper, and singing together -one of the fondest memories of all. Oh, did we sing! Brydon was at my side as I took my maiden voyage as a driver in the family car. We were even admonished by lawyers for Rogers and Hammerstein as we sought to rewrite South Pacific with a cast of querky characters and paraphrased songs for

Lou and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Brydon's passing. For many years Brydon freely shared his thoughts in our Tuesday Group Bible Study. He knew his Bible, yet was always seeking greater understanding. His sense of humor was very special. We in the group will miss him, as brother misses brother. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you and your family. 804-314-2497.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Brydon's passing. I just exchanged e-mails with him within the last two weeks, tapping his expertise in fundraising. When I was chair of the Department of Marketing at VCU, I got Brydon involved as an adjunct instructor, and he developed and delivered a course in nonprofit marketing. My understanding is that he continued to teach after I left VCU in 2013 for my current position at Middle Tennessee State University.

I also recall the lunch conversation I had with him several years ago, during which I recommended that he take all of the fundraising advice he had published in his newsletters and turn it into a book. He did that, and his book, "The Nonprofit Development Companion," has been a valuable resource for me in my role as a business school dean. I still recommend the book to others in the development field.

Lastly, I will always remember Brydon's concern for others, which he demonstrated time and again through his volunteer work with Rotary and other organizations. He was an amazing man whom I greatly admired. I will miss him terribly, and my thoughts and prayers are with Lou and the rest of the family at this difficult time.
