Virginia was a beloved mother of three children and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren including those whom she took under her wing and cared for as her own. My grandmother made her whole life about her family, always caring for others, even as a child she helped her parents care for her sisters. Later in life, she worked in a hospital setting taking care of others but she would always tell me her favorite job was being a waitress. She loved to care for and especially loved to feed people and make sure they had everything they needed. I don't believe there was a single day in her life that she spent not caring for or thinking of someone else. She was the epitome of selflessness. It was because of her selflessness that I can say why I am the person I am today. My grandmother took care of my sister Lindsey and I quite a bit growing up. We spent every school break with her and our grandfather, and during those times she taught us so much. She taught us the importance of prayer. She may not have gone to church every Sunday but she always kept God close to her heart, and every night before bed she would tuck us in and we say our prayers together. She taught us what it meant to be a good wife. We got to witness two people be a true team and to always love and have each other's back through thick and thin. She taught us forgiveness, that it was ok for people to make mistakes and that it was just a part of life. She taught us how to stick up for ourselves and how to be strong women. I think anyone that has every had the opportunity to know her can attest that she was an amazingly strong woman. Most importantly, she taught us what love is. No matter what my sister and I did, she loved us unconditionally. She was more than just our grandmother, she was our mother.
