Jaime Cruz Torres, 39, passed away January 25, 2018, surrounded by loved ones in Houston, Texas. He was born April 18, 1978 to parents, Carlos Torres and Rebecca Tober Lopez in Houston, Texas.
Jaime was most recognized for his playful and compassionate spirit. He would not just bring light into a room; he would bring a positive ray of light to every person in that room. He was a God fearing man, who loved the Lord with all his heart. Jaime dedicated his life to the Lord and his actions were a testament to that dedication. In addition to the Lord, his family was center of his universe. He cherished time with his wife and girls, and adored them greatly. Jaime always protected and provided for his family. He always had a desire to own his own company, and through his fearless dedication and strong work ethic, Maverick First Aide and Safety was successfully created. To know Jaime was to love him. Even in his last days he was joking and comforting those around him. Everyone who visited would come out in disbelief of how he managed to get them laughing in such a difficult time.
Jaime is survived by his wife, Lillian Torres of Houston; his children, Dominque Torres and son in law Tyler Onken of Corpus Christi, Elizabeth Torres of Corpus Christi, and Kristen Torres of Houston; his sisters, Jeanette Torres of Corpus Christi, and Jessica Lopez of Houston; his brother, Frank Lopez of Houston; and a host of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him.

Jaime began as a son in the faith and became a deep and dear friend. You stood faithful to the end in this earthly house and now soar with Jesus face to face. You always were and forever will be a tender warrior. You called that warrior out in me. You made everyone you met see the love of Jesus in the flesh. Mama and Papa Smurf will always love you and look forward to seeing you soon. We will help your precious Lyly and your girls walk this part of the journey. Thank you for being my friend and reminding me that our relationship was not based on performance, but Grace and love like that of Jesus. Thank You Jesus for Your precious gift of Jaime Torres intercecting my life. We love you Jaime and Lyly. Sam and Susanna

Thank you Lord for his amazing person Jaime Torres. I was the baby in the family until my nephew Jaime came into this world. He was so much fun. I love him so very much. I remember the summers going down to Corpus Christi to take care of you and Jeanette. We would have so much fun. Going to the beach. We were only 8 years apart. I felt like you were my baby brother. I would always protect you and Jeanette. In 2009, I was so lost in my life, with no direction in my life. You introduced me to JESUS, My Savoir. You told me that He loved me, and that He wanted a relationship with me. My life has not been the same. I have hope, and a future to look forward to with Jesus in my life. He has given me direction. You always have some kind words to make everything better. I will miss our weekly talks on my commute home from work. You will always be in my heart. Until we meet again!!!
Love you much

My love,
I love you yesterday, today and tomorrow: just like Jesus does.
Thank you for giving me the honor to love you. You blessed my socks off with the love we had and the love I will carry in my heart forever. You made me laugh so hard almost every day - even when we had our hicups you managed to make me smile and then laugh with about what we were upset about. I watched you grow into an outstanding husband. You put God first and because you put God first, you placed me first and made me feel like your beautiful bride every single day. Sometimes I wonder how I will get through this but in my heart I hear what you used to say when faced with a giant, how do you eat an elephant? You start with the rear end. Hahaha...never knew what that meant but it was super funny anyway. I love and miss our free style singing and how much fun we had on our drives around the city just because we could. Thank you for teaching me patience, for never allowing panic to take the wheel in my mind. I can go on and on lighting you up my love but then I would take all the space on this site writting a book about you. So my love, I will see you later. For you it will be a blink of an eye. I am at peace knowing that you are with Jesus and victory was conquored because even though your body is now resting, your heavenly, goodlooking new body in heaven is rejoicing in the presense of Almighty God! Enjoy my love everything Jesus has for you. I send you a million kisses with all my love. Until eternity papi! I ❤ U forever!

My friend Jaime is in heaven for sure. I know if there is a heaven my friend is there with God right now. I thank the Lord for having known him in my childhood. It was one of the best parts of my life growing up nextdoor to such a great neighbor all those years. He will be in my heart and mind forever. He had such a imagination. Together we would think about all the things we wanted to do as grownups. My friend ended up becoming a ever better adult too. Thank you Jaime. Rest in peace.
