Joanne L. Farrell passed away peacefully on January 18, 2018 in San Diego, California at the age of 61.
Joanne will be forever remembered by her children Patrick, Ryan, Timothy and Brooke; her eldest brother Robert, sister Patricia, brother John, brother in-law Donald; her nephew Brian and niece Laura; as well as her beloved dog, Louie. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Joan.
Joanne Farrell was born on October 28, 1956 in New York to Robert Long and Joan Murphy. She graduated from The University of Connecticut in 1980. After receiving her degree, she started her administrative work, 10 years later laying her roots in Stamford, CT to raise her four amazing children. It was in Connecticut that she opened a business called Maritech Marine Electronics located right in the marina in Stamford -- JJ loved being on the water. She had a love for exploring which took her all over Europe. She dedicated many summers with her children to visit amazing cities and different cultures. Her unmistakable energy and free spirit fueled both her business acumen and optimistic view on life, which made an impression on everyone she encountered. Joanne was a natural entertainer and story teller, who was championed for her culinary skills. Her family and friends treasured being around her, not only for her unconditional love, but the unwavering support she selflessly provided. Strong, fierce, and loyal to her children, it made perfect sense that the last few years were spent near the beautiful beaches of San Diego, California to support her children attending college and beginning their successful careers. Some of her last and most cherished memories together were in San Diego and will never be forgotten.
A funeral is scheduled for February 3 at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church in Greenwich, CT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joanne's life. Condolences can be sent to Gallagher's Funeral Home in Greenwich, CT. The family would like to thank all of Joanne's nurses and doctors at U.C. San Diego Health for their care, dedication, and professionalism during this hard time.
